I'm starting to feel restless. Leaves are changing colors, animals (namely squirrels) are starting to store up food for hibernation, it's getting colder, people are starting to talk about snow boots and shovels. It's that time of year. I don't know how I can possibly or reasonably be restless, seeing that two months ago was a complete whirlwind of quitting my job, selling my car, getting married, a Parisian honeymoon, moving 800 miles away to New Haven, Connecticut- all within 2 weeks. And then our “stuff” came, and it got unpacked. I painted the apartment, bought two chairs to reupholster, planned a half dozen more, none of which sound like things I feel like starting, much less finishing. Visit R in New York. Go to NYC for the day. Restless. We're settled, kinda. A has a job, and school. I have cooking and whatever project I feel like doing that day, still looking for a job. But restless.
I think the worst part about fall is that outside, the flowers are dying. Slowly but surely, they're falling over, losing color, losing life. A is really great about bringing me flowers on a regular basis and I love having them in the house- they're cheerful, they're sunny, and they bring life into an otherwise quiet room. Last summer, A brought me sunflowers from a an abandoned field that were absolutely beautiful. They were great to photograph, especially the leaves. In celebration of the last warm days, I'm showing them to you now...bookmark it so when there's 2 feet of snow on the ground, you can look at them and weep. I will.
