If you're like me and live in New England, your apartment probably has a storage problem. As in, there's not nearly enough of it. We have three closets in our apartment. Our pantry, which holds dry goods, miscellaneous supplies and our pots and pans. Then we have our living room closet, which holds AC's clothes, some misc boxes and the DVDs, and the bedroom closet, which holds my clothes and is especially problematic since it's very narrow and very deep. I put a rolling clothes rack in there so I can pull it out and actually see all my clothes, but incidentally, collapsed today so now I'm back at square one until I hear back from the company that made it- I send them an angry email. Anyway, we have things like extra blankets and sheets, a suitcase and miscellaneous things that don't have a home and they were residing on our bedroom floor, which is not only unattractive but really dangerous. Enter three 55" 2x6s, a tension rod, and two and a half yards of fabric.

Now you see it...
... Ta da! Now you don't.
Sorry about the pictures, it was dark at 4:30, when I finished. I like how it doesn't block any light since it's above the windows. Light is important in the AM when a certain someone (hint: not me) doesn't want to get up. Plus, we keep one of our windows open when we're home to let some air circulate and it doesn't block that either- we have radiators and central air system so it can get pretty stuffy; welcome to the Northeast! This works because we have higher than average ceilings, and it was really easy, non-permanent and I didn't have to drill any holes since I used a tension rod, which is a double bonus for me because there is something not entirely unlike concrete in there that is impossible to drill through, though I haven't tried a jackhammer yet.
Some sewing pictures just for fun cause it was the first time using my sewing machine:
Oh, you might want to check back here on Monday... there may or may not be a giveaway going down. Just saying.

That's a super clever idea. Also, from what I can tell, your apartment is amazing. Want to see more, please.
