Prompt: 5 minutes. Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010.
I thought I hated this prompt. But it turns out I don't, because I have a bad memory and actually remembering things happens so infrequently that when it does, it's precious.
I want to remember...
... following R home from work when it was really dark, really snowy, and the roads were really slick. I don't know why I remember that so well, but it's a very WHITE memory that I keep seeing in my head. I guess because I figured if I was following her and AC was following me, we'd be okay. I don't even think she knew I was following her but there I was.
... scraping ice off the cars in the parking lot at work after a long day with my coworkers. For some reason it was weirdly fun.
... knowing that AC and my dad had gone to pick out and buy my ring together. I knew the exact day and that's really special to me
... getting proposed to! I knew it was coming, but it doesn't make it any less special.
... our first meal being engaged! Holly Hill Inn is fantastic and I love it.
... trying on a prototype of my dress and knowing it was the one.
... then 6 months later, buying a COMPLETELY new dress the Monday before the wedding.
... our wedding ceremony. And reception, but our ceremony was and is the most important part.
... agonizing over what to name my blog. Lame, I know.
... signing the reception venue contract with... my former manager.
... finding out my store manager was pregnant!
... going to NY State to see R the day M deployed. It was a gorgeous drive, but more importantly it made me realize how there are some people I would do ANYTHING for.
... finding out where we would be moving to. I was at work, and at cashwrap, and Lucy was there.
... my initial impression of CT. It was from the train and it was not good. I was distressed.
... my first day in NYC by myself. It was fun, and really really hot.
... seeing the Rockefeller Center tree for the first time. I cried.
... standing in line at the DMV to get my CT drivers license. I don't know why, but that was fun and I thought I was going to be sadder about giving up my KY license.
... my last punch out at Big Corporate Bookstore.
... getting in trouble at BCB. Then having a meeting about getting in trouble go totally opposite what I thought it was going to.
... feeding camels!
... seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time!
... using my French successfully at many places, but especially the ticket booth and the grocery store.
...going to the flea market. Multiple times.
... turning down a job. Period.
... AC's first international trip!
... three words: grilled cheese truck.
... receiving room antics, especially the day we got 200 boxes in.
... 2 wrecks in front of our house within 16 hours of eachother.
... being Wedding Wonder Twins with J. I miss her.
... going to the beach. WHICH IS NEAR MY HOUSE! That's completely surreal.
... watching a motorcycle crash happen in real time. Terrifying.
... dude doing pushups outside the ATM. Weird.
... all-nighter packing to move.
... seeing 9 different firework shows from the Kroger parking lot. Beautiful.
... Eades family reunion!
... throwing up on my parents lawn. Thanks Kait.
... the puppy I didn't get and wanted SO BADLY.
... the BCB coworker lunch at the Indian Buffet.
Took a little bit longer than 5 minutes, but whatever. I captured important stuff!
