Since it was more or less a theme, we had books at all the tables acting as table names- we named all our tables after theologians- but after realizing how many we needed for the escort table, we didn't have enough for all the tables too. We seriously had about 200 books wrapped in craft paper when it was all said and done. Most of them were Big Corporate Bookstore clearance castoffs- none actually belonged to me except the few Advanced Readers copies.
To make up the difference, Mom and her friend N bought composition books, covered those in kraft paper and put them at some of the tables, including one of the tables with some of my coworkers. My lovely coworkers ended up at the Karl Barth table. This is Karl Barth, as I was tagged on Facebook by the wonderful Lucy (seriously, I love her and want her to visit me ASAP):
My coworkers had a delightful amount to drink. My coworkers who are curious and like to look inside books on tables, and, realizing they are blank, pull out a pen or two. It wasn't the intention to have people write in them (we had a guestbook); however, I am FOREVER glad they decided to, in their words, "give [us] something to read on the plane". Because it is hilarious, sometimes inappropriate, and completely one of my most favorite things about the whole day. I couldn't scan all of the pages- some were definitely NSFW, others were too special (the language page)!
Title page:
The interpretation of the centerpiece (cracked me up):
Amazing crossword puzzle (there was also an x-rated wordsearch):
Clever haiku (you can see the word finder coming through):
Last page (and the one that made me cry the most):
Like I said... there were so many other pages that are completely worth sharing. It was the best thing anyone could have done and I'll cherish it forever.
To the contributors: I love you guys and miss you so, so much! Thank you for being part of our wedding!

Aww! I love this, such a great idea.
What an awesome keepsake! This reminds me of the notebooks my friends and I would pass back and forth during class in high school. I treasure those notes now.
Actually, now that I think about it...your post may have inspired something for the wedding, K!

That's awesome! I love the spontaneity of it!
Even though it was unintentional.. what a cute idea to use books (and notebooks)! So sweet that your friends provided you with an entertaining plane ride ;)
