100 things about me

This was a popular meme approximately 5 years ago (Livejournal, anyone?) and last night I was bored (AC was at work) so I decided to do it again. Pretty self explanatory. 

1. I have absolutely NO sense of direction. I get lost using maps on my iPhone. Hopeless.

2. My favorite thing to cook is pan fried tilapia with a white wine/caper/lemon sauce. 

3. I read about 80-100 pages an hour. 

4. I liked Connecticut a lot more before winter came. 

5. I still don't hate it, but my enthusiasm diminished quite a bit after the 60 inches of snow we got. 

6. I safety pin my socks together before I wash them so I don't have to play the matching game. 

7. I drink all my water out of a 35 oz. steel Nalgene. 

8. My favorite colors are pink and orange. 

9. I'm going through a minimalist phase, which means I'm donating a lot of stuff and not shopping at all.  

10. (I think that) the only people that truly understand horse racing are people who grew up at the tracks.  

11. My favorite jockey is, of course, Pat Day.

12. I was born on Kentucky Oaks and in 2015, my birthday is on the Kentucky Derby. I want to be there more than anything in the whole world. Best birthday ever. 

13. Bourbon isn't the worst thing in the world, but bourdon balls are. 

14. I keep in regular contact with only 2 people from high school outside Facebook. 

15. I love trains and planes (not so much automobiles). 

16. Both of my grandmothers are still alive and I knew my great grandmother on my Mom's side.

17. I have a younger brother who is 3.5 years younger than me. 

18. I have 2 homes (KY and GA) and sometimes that gets confusing because I'm not sure which one I'm homesick for at any given moment.  

19. If I had gotten another year of school, I would have changed my major to business. 

20. I fell into my English degree cause I didn't know what else to do. I regret that now. 

21. My favorite cookie is lavender shortbread. 

22. I cannot STAND it when people are preachy about stuff. You can't make people care. 

23. I'm obstinate. 

24. My music is 5 years out of date. I'm fixing that this week. 

25. I miss my cheap gym membership to a great gym. 

26. Since we do not have a reasonably priced, good gym here, I am lazy. 

27. I love my snuggie. 

28. I will never get tired of herding the seagulls in the Walmart parking lot with my car. 

29. I cannot tell you the last time I bought a book that wasn't a gift.

30. I've been using the library for the last 8 months and its been awesome. Less clutter. 

31. We already have 2 full bookcases; we don't need any more books! 

32. I also have 2 full bookcases at my parents house that I need to sort through and discard most of them. 

33. I read 90% non-fiction. I don't dislike fiction, it just doesn't interest me. 

34. I've never smoked. Anything. 

35. Our favorite New Haven pizza is Modern Apizza. This is a hotly contested issue around these parts. 

36. I used to cut words out of magazines for collages, but I never made them so I just had stacks and stacks of words.

37. I save pictures of outfits I like for inspiration. 

38. I am completely my Mother's daughter. 

39. I've parallel parked exactly once in real life (not on the driving test)... into a snow bank this winter. 

40. I had a pet bunny named Floppy. The Easter Bunny brought him to me. 

41. My Bookstore coworkers were amazing... I don't think I'll ever have such good coworkers again.

42. We don't own a TV. 

43. My favorite singers are India.Arie and Norah Jones. 

44. I cannot WAIT to go back to school! Even if it'll probably be awhile. 

45. I can wait to take the GRE (but I'd better not since they're changing it in August). 

46. I almost contracted ROTC... took the classes for 3-4 semesters before I quit. 

47. I still kind of regret not going through with it, honestly, but my parents were vehemently against it. Plus I would have never met AC... but the regret is still kinda there. 

48. We have 2 end tables and I am super in love with both of them. Weird, I know, but they're gorgeous. 

49. My Dad's job is confusing. 

50. I went to the same summer camp for 8 years. It was the best week of the year, always. 

51. I'm getting better at making pancakes, but I'm still not awesome at it. 

52. I love children's literature (despite mostly being fiction) and have my 2 favorites on the bookshelf. 

53. I love living in a state that has actual seasons, especially fall. Can't beat a Northeastern fall. No where else compares, as I found out last year .  

54. We keep all our DVDs in a binder.. 

55. We have grilled cheese and soup every Monday night. It's delicious. 

56. We also have tuna steaks on the 7th of every month (we got married on the 7th). 

57. I prefer the mountains to the beach. Hiking > sand. 

58. I desperately want to get my grandfathers Leica cleaned. 

59. I haven't used my DSLR in awhile and my film SLR in even longer. 

60. I miss having access to a darkroom and the good times I had there. 

61. I especially miss the super, super late nights either working on my own stuff or helping people with theirs (especially one of my best friends at the time).  

62. I have a habit of living where there are lots and lots of sirens (ambulance, fire, police). 

63. I probably overuse parentheses. 

64. I'm pretty proud of the fact AC and I are doing this whole thing without any financial support from either set of parents. Our choice and it's scary, but we're doing it. 

65. I miss living across the backyard from Bridesmaid RG. 

66. I'm messy. 

67. I'm down to one pair of jeans that fits. Might need to get on that, but I have other pants. 

68. 9 out of 10 frames hanging above the sofa are empty. It looks funny but I don't know what to put in them! 

69. Lavender ice cream and mint chocolate chip ice cream are my favorite. 

70. I have 175 blogs on my Google Reader. 

71. I am a highly organized grocery shopper, but it's by far the one chore I would hand over to someone else if paying the jacked up delivery prices was even the slightest bit responsible.

72. I love ironing. Someone want to trade chores? 

73. I talk to my friend NS pretty much every day. She's the most motivated person I know and I feel so bad when she tries to motivate me. I'm pretty unmotivatable and lazy. 

74. I have a black thumb. I wish I could grow at least herbs, but I tried last summer and they died in 3 weeks. If it's green, it will die if I'm in charge of it. 

75. I've never had a dog and frankly, the thought of having one is scary even though I want one. Even though I've petsit before, I don't know what to expect with owning one, plus vet bills are ridiculous $$$.  

76. I don't like noise, especially car stereos outside. 

77. I hate the feeling of newspaper and cardboard. Makes my teeth hurt. 

78. I'm not very good at being a long term blogger (I have no professional blogger aspirations). 

79. I drop pretty much everything and trip over things that aren't actually there. 

80. I'm horrible at trivia. I'm just not smart like that. 

81. Despite having a 3 in 7 chance of moving there next year, NYC is not on my list of places I'd want to live, but I feel like it's an opportunity I can't pass up. 

82. My favorite local restaurant is Caseus- their cheese boards (and food) are absolutely fantastic. 

83. I make the best turkey sandwiches ever. 

84. I am a failed scrapbooker many times over. I kept trying but it all looks so bad when I did it. 

85. I subscribe to Shape, Conde Nast and Martha Stewart Living magazines. I want to subscribe to New York Magazine but I keep forgetting. 

86. I have a bunch of earrings that I never wear. I feel guilty about that and yet I can't help but to stop and look whenever I see earrings for sale. 

87. I live by my to-do list, even though it usually takes a few days for something on it to get done. None of it is very urgent, I guess. 

88. People who complain about being ___ even though they do nothing but ___ really annoy me. Like complaining about being fat even though they do nothing but eat out (butter!) or broke even though they do nothing but shop... cause and effect, people. 

89. My skin doesn't heal very well. Scratches, cuts, sunburns etc all scar something terrible. 

90. I'd love to do a photography project photographing people's grocery carts but I'm too shy. I do like looking at what other people buy, though. 

91. I love sugar cubes that come in shapes. 

92. I waffle back and forth about buying a waffle iron. How much would I actually use it?

93. I dislike driving, especially at night. 

94. My favorite fruit is probably an orange and my favorite vegetables are broccoli and asparagus. 

95. I would repaint our living room every month if AC would let me! I love playing with colors. 

96. I don't miss chicken/pork/beef about 95% of the time, but when I miss it, I miss it bad enough to scrap dinner plans and find a burger. 

97. I have 3 unopened Mace sticks from my Mom. 

98. I do not have any tattoos, but I admire beautiful ones. I even had plans for one but I never got it. 

99. My favorite flea market is the Elephants Trunk in New Milford, CT. Never quite sure what you're going to find there, but the donut truck is AC's favorite. 

100.  I used to be an early riser by nature but that seems to have changed into always wanting to sleep.
